RAK Municipality

The Ras Al Khaimah Municipality was founded in 1959 by the decree of His Highness Sheikh Saqr bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, may his soul rest in peace. From its inception, the municipality bore significant responsibilities, overseeing various sectors such as land management, ports, traffic, environmental cleanliness, and community welfare. In the mid-1960s, the municipality revamped its administrative structure, incorporating departments and divisions to better execute its duties in line with global municipal advancements.

In accordance with the 1981 Ras Al Khaimah Municipality law and Resolution No. 5 of 2004 issued by His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, the department underwent organizational restructuring to adapt to economic, urban, commercial, and environmental shifts. A strategic plan was devised, encompassing vision, mission, values, and objectives aligned with the organizational framework, reflecting the commitment of the Ras Al Khaimah government to modernize service delivery under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi.

The municipality prioritized the integration of departments to streamline processes, leveraging cutting-edge information technology systems for efficient service provision and adherence to regulatory standards. The implementation of computerized systems enhanced staff performance, expedited transactions, and ensured compliance with regulations throughout the process.

In preserving the Arabic language’s significance as the UAE’s native tongue, the language of the Quran, and the language of heritage, the municipality affirmed the use of classical Arabic in all official dealings and correspondences, emphasizing its cultural and linguistic importance.
